TransWood Inc.: Providing A Driver-Focused Environment
TransWood Inc. is a trucking company based in the Omaha, Nebraska area. The business currently employs about 700 drivers throughout the United States; these professionals work out of 35 different terminals. A new terminal was recently unveiled in Artesia, New Mexico. The group hauls a variety of products, including crude oil, bleach, and concrete. At TransWood, there’s an emphasis on personal connections. The business’s management takes pride in creating a small, family-style working atmosphere, where trucks are always safe and well-maintained for their drivers.
The company’s management understands the importance of time at home, and builds a program that allows drivers to spend more time with their families. Whereas other trucking services can feel impersonal, TransWood Inc. takes a different approach. Company employees receive a birthday card each year, as well as five TransWood points to spend in the company store. The store features a range of items including Nike jackets, baseball caps, coolers, backpacks, duffel bags, hats, and gifts for the kids.
Drivers participate in a driver rewards program that issues perks for a successful truck inspection, as well as for those employees who truly commit themselves to their job. Those who excel are issued TransWood points for use in the store. The group is proud to participate in veteran hires, and accepts military experience for both mechanics and drivers.
About the drivers
Log on to the company’s social media pages, and you’re greeted with a first-hand look at the drivers of TransWood, again emphasizing the company’s belief in building a personal, tight-knit community, with a focus on the truckers. The company’s Facebook page is filled with pictures of Driver Appreciation Day events, where drivers and administrative staff gathered together to enjoy a barbeque feast. Questions posed by one driver on the Facebook page are greeted by a friendly response from TransWood management, and even other drivers. These individuals openly praise the company and the experience they have as employees.
When you venture onto the company’s Twitter account, you’ll notice statuses featuring responses regarding questions asked of members of the TransWood team. From football to the weather where they’re located, drivers and administrative staff actively chime in on the company’s social media profiles. There’s also a video that features drivers from Sugar Creek, Missouri, speaking out about what they enjoy about the position.
Drivers who were interviewed have spent anywhere from four months to 12 years with the company, and all agree that they enjoy their TransWood experience. One employee even raves, “We’ve got the greatest boss in the world!” Another employee notes that the company takes good care of the equipment, and that technicians quickly identify and resolve problems with the trucks. Driver Mike states, “It’s a good company to work for. I’d recommend anybody come here to work.” Other high praise goes to the office staff, as well as the company’s dispatcher who “is very prompt to call you every day. If you run into an issue or someone cancels a load, he’s right on top of it.”
The company holds a variety of professional affiliations, including all trucking highway safety organizations, Safeway, the American Trucking Association, and the National Tank Truck Carriers. Established in 1928, the business has grown steadily by developing strong customer relationships, and exceeding client expectations. This is accomplished by hiring personnel who are qualified and experienced at their craft, and empowering these individuals when they’re on the job.
The company identifies their mission statement as the following, “To achieve excellence through superior systems, training, and dedication which ensures that Transwood Inc. will provide a level of disciplined quality service that exceeds our customers’ needs, demands, and expectations.” For two consecutive years, HollyFrontier Lubricants and Specialty Products named the group Carrier of the Year for its 100 percent on-time deliveries.
